| Beschrijving keerzijde | The Virgin Mary, nimbed and seated in majesty, holds the Christ Child on her lap; the entire group is supported upon a crescent moon, a compositional device common in Marian iconography of the period. The figures are set within an inner beaded border, with bold drapery rendered in the hammered style. The surrounding field carries the circular Latin legend separated by lozenge-shaped stops, identifying this as the new gold money of Reckheim. The overall design follows the Rhenish ducat tradition prevalent in the mid-sixteenth-century Low Countries. |
