| Obverse description | A standing armored knight in full Renaissance-era plate armor occupies the center of the field, facing right in three-quarter view. In his right hand he holds an unsheathed sword upright, while his extended left hand grasps a bundle of arrows — a traditional Dutch symbol of provincial unity. Two privy marks flank the knight's helmet at the top of the field: a sword cross to the left and a caduceus to the right. The date is split across the lower field, with '18' to the left of the figure and '49' to the right. The circular Latin legend CONCORDIA RES PARVAE CRESCUNT ('By concord, small things grow') runs around the periphery. |
