| Obverse description | Draped bust of Abbot Philip of Spiegel zum Desenberg facing right, wearing ecclesiastical vestments with ornate lace collar and pectoral cross, his hair falling in loose curls to the shoulder. The portrait is rendered in a refined Baroque style with strong relief. A beaded inner border frames the design. The surrounding legend reads PHILIPPUS. D. G. S. R. I. PRINC. &. ABB. CORB., identifying him as Prince and Abbot of Corvey by the grace of God. |
