Obverse description The quartered arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg are displayed within an ornate oval shield, surmounted by a broad-brimmed ecclesiastical hat with pendant tassels. The upper quarters bear the lion of Salzburg and a heraldic device, while the lower quarters display the rampant lion of the Lodron family arms. The shield is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The circular Latin legend surrounds the design in the outer field.
