Obverse description Armored bust of Mihály Apafi I, Prince of Transylvania, facing right, wearing a fur-trimmed cloak and a crown, with elaborate armor visible on the chest and shoulder. The effigy is rendered in a robust baroque style with fine detail on the drapery and regalia. A beaded inner circle frames the portrait, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery of the hexagonal flan. The mintmaster's initials appear in the lower field beneath the bust.

Reverse description Crowned Transylvanian coat of arms at center, composed of the eagle of Transylvania and the sun and moon motifs, enclosed within an ornate shield surmounted by a royal crown. A rampant lion is depicted to the left of the shield. The date 1689 and the mintmaster's initials AF appear in the field. The Latin legend runs around the hexagonal periphery within a beaded border, referencing Apafi's titles as lord of parts of the Hungarian Kingdom and Count of the Székelys.
