Obverse description Draped and uniformed bust of Elector Maximilian IV Joseph facing right, depicted in military attire with detailed epaulettes and collar insignia. The effigy is rendered in high relief with naturalistic portraiture, the hair dressed in the late eighteenth-century fashion. The encircling Latin legend reads MAXIMILIAN IOSEPH CHURFÜRST ZU PFALZBAIERN, identifying the ruler by name and electoral title, running along the full periphery of the coin.

Reverse description Central device comprising a crowned oval shield bearing the combined arms of the Palatinate-Bavaria: the Bavarian lozengy field quartered with the Palatinate lion, the crossed sceptres of the Arch-Stewardship, and the orb, all surmounted by the electoral bonnet with cross finial. The shield is flanked by symmetrical olive and laurel branches tied at the base, with the date 1805 in the exergue. The motto FÜR GOTT UND VATERLAND (For God and Fatherland) arcs around the upper field in German.
