| 背面描述 | Central quartered shield of arms surmounted by an open imperial crown with pearl-tipped arches, flanked by elaborate Baroque foliate scrollwork. The shield displays the arms of Austria, Burgundy, and Styria among other dynastic quarters, rendered in fine detail. The mint date appears within the legend at the upper left of the field. The circumferential Latin legend reads ARCHID AUST DUX BURG & STYRIAE followed by the year, all separated by stops. A beaded border runs along the coin's rim. |

Maria Theresia's early ducats from Graz were struck during the War of the Austrian Succession, when her claim to the Habsburg throne was being contested simultaneously by Bavaria, France, Prussia, and Saxony. The Pragmatic Sanction her father Charles VI had spent decades securing from European powers proved worthless almost the moment he died in 1740. Graz, as the capital of Inner Austria, maintained its own mint throughout this period — one of several regional facilities the Habsburgs kept operating precisely because centralized minting at Vienna carried too much political and logistical risk during wartime.
Her. 120–122 distinguishes at least three die varieties across this three-year window.
