| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Grand Duke Leopold I of Baden, rendered in high relief with finely detailed wavy hair swept back from the temples. The truncation of the neck is cleanly cut. The peripheral legend curves around the upper and lower fields, reading LEOPOLD GROSHERZOG VON BADEN, separated from the portrait by a continuous inner beaded border. The field is smooth and lustrous, characteristic of Karlsruhe Mint gold coinage of the period. |
