Kaspar von Logau served as Bishop of Breslau from 1562 until his death in 1574, governing during one of the most fractious periods of the Reformation's spread through Silesia — a region where Lutheran influence had penetrated deeply into the population and nobility alike, leaving Catholic ecclesiastical authority increasingly embattled. That a bishop under such pressure still commanded the right to strike gold is itself significant; the Bishopric retained its imperial minting privilege even as its spiritual jurisdiction eroded around it.
Freise and Salge catalogue this type as FuS#2551, with Friedberg 477 confirming the gold ducat standard. Surviving examples are scarce by any measure.
