Fürstenberg-Stühlingen was among the smallest of the southwestern German principalities, and its mining output was modest enough that Ausbeute coinage — struck from the yield of a specific mine — was a rare occurrence. The "Eule" (Owl) mine referenced in this issue operated in the Black Forest silver and ore districts, though gold of sufficient purity for ducats from such operations was seldom extracted in meaningful quantity. That scarcity is structural: these were struck to commemorate yield, not to supply circulation.
Joseph William Ernest ruled until 1762. The four-year window of this type's production almost certainly reflects the active life of that particular extraction.
