Obverse description A rearing stag displayed in profile to the right stands before a tall column surmounted by a cross, all set within a beaded inner circle. The stag, rendered in fine relief, is shown in a vigorous rearing posture with its forelegs raised, serving as the principal heraldic device of the County of Stolberg. The surrounding legend, punctuated by rosettes and bullet stops, reads: IOHAN•MART:COM:IN:STOLB:KON:R•W•E•HON, identifying the issuing count John Martin in abbreviated Latin titulature.
