Aanvullende informatie

The original 1616 Sophiendukat was struck at Dresden to commemorate the baptism of Sophie Eleonore, daughter of John George I and Magdalene Sibylle of Prussia. The "Sophiendukat" name stuck, and the piece became a recurring presentation type in the Saxon court gift tradition. The restrike program, running through the nineteenth century, was a deliberate curatorial effort — the Dresden mint reproduced select earlier ducats for collectors and official presentations long after the Albertinian electorate itself had ceased to exist following the Napoleonic reorganization of 1806.

The X# prefix in Krause reflects its classification as a non-circulating or special strike rather than a standard currency issue.
