| Obverse description | Central design features a terrestrial globe from which two arms emerge, the dexter arm brandishing a sword and the sinister arm holding a spade, symbolizing governance and labor. Above the arms, two hands are clasped in prayer over an open Bible, the whole surmounted by a wreath of clouds. The composition conveys the devotional and political program of Elector John George I of Saxony. The circular legend in Latin encircles the central device. The overall style is characteristic of early seventeenth-century German Renaissance engraving applied to ducats of New Year presentation. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is entirely occupied by a nine-line Latin devotional inscription filling the field, reading as a New Year's prayer invoking God's omnipotent hand to protect, adorn, and nourish the law, the king, and the flock. The text is set in bold Roman capitals of varying size, arranged in horizontal lines centered within the die. A continuous laurel or rope inner border frames the inscription, with a plain raised rim beyond. This type of all-inscription reverse is characteristic of Saxon Neujahrsdukat issues of the first half of the seventeenth century. |
