1 Ducat - Johann Franz von Trautson-Falkenstein

The Trautson family held their Falkenstein lordship in Lower Austria under imperial favor, and Johann Franz was among the last of the line to exercise the minting rights (Münzrecht) that had been granted to the family decades earlier. These privileges were being steadily curtailed by the Habsburgs throughout the seventeenth century as Vienna consolidated monetary control across the hereditary lands — making issues like this one increasingly rare products of a dying prerogative.

Fr#897 is a genuinely scarce type; Friedberg lists it without a meaningful population estimate, and auction appearances are irregular at best.
