Münsterberg-Oels was a Silesian Piast duchy operating under Bohemian suzerainty, and these joint-reign ducats reflect the dynastic complexity of the Piast cadet lines that persisted in Silesia well into the sixteenth century. The four co-rulers named — Joachim, Henry II, John, and George II — were brothers governing undivided territories under the inheritance customs that repeatedly frustrated Habsburg attempts to consolidate Silesian lands. Kopicki's R4 rarity rating is credible given how few Silesian ducal mints of this size could sustain gold coinage across a seventeen-year span.
