| Descrizione del dritto | Draped and armored bust of George I Rákóczi facing right, bearded, wearing an ornate jeweled collar and richly decorated costume, holding a sceptre upright in his right hand. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the characteristic hammered style of mid-17th century Transylvanian coinage. The circular Latin legend runs along the beaded inner border reading GEORG RAKOCI D G PRI TRA, identifying the ruler by name and title as Prince of Transylvania by the grace of God. |

György Rákóczi I died in October 1648, meaning this ducat was struck in the final year of a reign that had reshaped Transylvania's position in central European affairs. His 1645 Peace of Linz with the Habsburgs secured Protestant rights across Royal Hungary — extracted at sword point after Rákóczi marched his army as far as Moravia. Neustadt issues from his reign are catalogued separately from those of other mints under his authority, reflecting the principality's deliberately distributed minting policy.
