Reverse description Crowned quartered shield of arms of the Electorate of Hanover displayed in the centre of the field, bearing the arms of Brunswick, Lüneburg, Westphalia, and the crown of Charlemagne, flanked below by the mintmaster's initials H C B. The royal crown above the shield is ornate and topped with a cross. The motto legend IN RECTO DECUS (meaning 'Honour in Righteousness') arcs around the upper field, with the date 1714 appearing vertically to the right of the shield. The milled edge border frames the design on all sides.
