Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Gábor Bethlen facing right, depicted with a short beard and wearing an elaborately ornamented cuirass with decorative collar. The effigy fills the majority of the field in a bold, high-relief style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Transylvanian hammered gold coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait along the coin's inner border.
