Beschrijving voorzijde Draped and wigged bust of King Frederik V facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing curls cascading to the shoulder and an elaborate lace cravat visible at the truncation. The effigy occupies the majority of the obverse field in the Baroque portrait tradition. The circular Latin legend runs continuously along the inner border, separated from the toothed rim by a plain collar.

Aanvullende informatie

Frederik V's ducats of this period were struck at the Copenhagen mint under the direction of court medallist Jacob Adzer, whose refined engraving style distinguishes these issues from the coarser output of earlier Danish ducat production. The .979 fineness reflects the traditional European ducat standard that had held since the medieval Rhenish goldgulden — Danish adherence to it was partly commercial, keeping the coins acceptable in Baltic and North Sea trade circuits where fractional deviations in fineness could get a coin refused outright.

Fr#268 is genuinely scarce across the three-year emission window. Frederik V's reign was not short, but his ducat production was intermittent and low-volume throughout.
