Reverse description A large three-masted sailing ship depicted under full sail occupies the central field, with the vessel shown in profile riding stylized waves. The Latin motto legend arches above the ship along the upper rim. The date and mintmaster's initials appear in the exergue below the wave line, flanked by separating dots. The overall composition conveys the maritime power and mercantile importance of the Danish realm.

Additional information

Frederik V's ducats of this period were struck at the Copenhagen mint under the direction of court medallist Jacob Adzer, whose refined engraving style distinguishes these issues from the coarser output of earlier Danish ducat production. The .979 fineness reflects the traditional European ducat standard that had held since the medieval Rhenish goldgulden — Danish adherence to it was partly commercial, keeping the coins acceptable in Baltic and North Sea trade circuits where fractional deviations in fineness could get a coin refused outright.

Fr#268 is genuinely scarce across the three-year emission window. Frederik V's reign was not short, but his ducat production was intermittent and low-volume throughout.
