Frederik V's reign saw Denmark attempt to position Copenhagen as a serious financial center, and the ducat was the instrument of that ambition — struck to the international trade standard recognized across European bourses and merchant houses. Danish ducats of this period circulated far beyond the kingdom itself, used in Baltic and North Sea commerce where the denomination carried more credibility than domestic silver.
Fr#277 is the Friedberg reference, placing this squarely within the recognized trade ducat tradition that Denmark maintained through the eighteenth century with unusual consistency in fineness.
