1 Ducat - Frederick Louis

Frederick Louis ruled Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen during one of the most turbulent decades in German territorial history, with French Revolutionary armies pushing deep into the Holy Roman Empire's southwestern territories through the mid-1790s. The county struck this ducat in 1796 — the same year French forces under Moreau and Jourdan crossed the Rhine in force, bringing the war directly into Swabian lands. It would prove to be among the final independent coinage issues of the county; Napoleon's reorganization of German territories extinguished dozens of such minor sovereignties within a decade.
