Reverse description The elaborately quartered arms of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg displayed on a large escutcheon surmounted by a ducal crown, the whole set within a draped hermine-lined mantle or pavilion topped by a domed crown, all rendered in fine Baroque engraving. The shield is divided into multiple heraldic quarters depicting the various territorial arms of the duchy, including lions, eagles, and barry fields. The mintmaster initials A H and the date 17 32 are distributed to the left and right of the shield within the mantle. The peripheral Latin legend PIETATE ET IVSTITIA — meaning 'By Piety and Justice' — curves around the upper field.
