| Reverse description | Central crowned shield bearing the three crowns of Sweden, flanked by decorative laurel or palm sprigs, with the date divided on either side of the shield. A radiant sun appears at the lower left of the field, symbolising gold of East Indian origin used in the coin's striking. The mintmaster's initials HM appear below the shield. The circumferential Latin legend IN•DEO•SPES•MEA• encircles the design, expressing the royal motto 'In God is my hope.' The overall composition is typical of Swedish Baroque gold coinage of the mid-eighteenth century. |
