Obverse description Elaborately interlaced crowned FR royal cypher in baroque calligraphic style occupies the central field, with the date 1737 divided to either side of the monogram. The inscription CASSEL appears along the lower rim, identifying the mint city. The reeded edge is visible along the coin's periphery, and the overall design reflects the ornate German baroque coinage style of the early eighteenth century.
