Frederick Charles von Schönborn held the remarkable distinction of serving simultaneously as Prince-Bishop of Würzburg and Prince-Bishop of Bamberg from 1729, consolidating two of Franconia's most powerful ecclesiastical territories under a single ruler. The Schönborn family had by this point placed members in bishop's thrones across the Holy Roman Empire for decades — a deliberate dynastic strategy that made them arguably the most politically embedded noble house in German Catholic ecclesiastical life during the early eighteenth century. This ducat was struck just two years into Frederick Charles's dual tenure.
