Reverse description A crowing rooster is depicted mounting a hen, both rendered in fine relief against a plain field, the scene occupying the central register of the die. Below the birds, a horizontal baseline separates an ornate cartouche of scrolling acanthus foliage with a central fleur-de-lis motif in the lower exergual area. The legend *VMSONST* (meaning 'In vain') arcs across the upper field in raised Latin letters, punctuated by rosette stops. The overall composition conveys an emblematic, amorous allegory consistent with the Coseldukat series issued under Frederick Augustus I of Saxony.
