Obverse description Bust of Martin Luther facing three-quarters to the right, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail depicting his clerical collar and draped shoulders. The portrait is boldly executed in the Baroque style typical of early eighteenth-century Saxon coinage. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the bust along the periphery of the coin, identifying the subject as Doctor of Sacred Theology. The field is smooth, with the effigy dominating the flan.
