Obverse description Central field occupied by the crowned shield of Nassau arms, depicting a rampant lion on a horizontally striped field, flanked on each side by a pendant laurel garland tied with a ribbon. The ducal crown above the shield is rendered in fine detail with pearled borders. The circumferential legend reads HERZOGTHUM NASSAU, disposed along the upper arc in bold raised Latin lettering, with a stop following the final word.
