Reverse description The quartered electoral arms of Saxony displayed within an ornate crowned shield at centre, framed by elaborate crossed palm and laurel branches. The four quarters bear the distinctive Saxon barry with the rautenkranz, the Polish eagle, the Lithuanian knight, and further dynastic charges, with a central escutcheon. A large royal electoral crown surmounts the shield. The mint master's initials I. G. S. appear in the lower field below the branches, flanked by the date. The encircling Latin legend SAC: ROM: IMP: ARCHIM: ET ELECT: runs around the periphery with the year of issue.
