| Obverse description | Facing jugate crowned busts of Ferdinand II and Isabella I, rendered in profile facing one another at centre, each wearing an elaborate Gothic crown with fleurs-de-lis and crosses. The letter V appears between the two busts, and the mint mark SC is visible in the exergue below, separated by a beaded border. The effigies are boldly struck in the late medieval Iberian hammered style, with long flowing hair visible on both sovereigns. A circular Latin legend runs around the periphery within a beaded border. |
