Reverse description Large quartered royal shield of Castile and Aragon surmounted by an ornate Gothic crown, occupying the central field. The quarters display alternately the castles of Castile and the lions of Leon in the upper quadrants, with the pales of Aragon and additional heraldic charges in the lower quarters. A circular Latin legend in Gothic lettering runs around the entire periphery of the coin, naming the territories of the Crown of Aragon.
