Reverse description Five-line Latin inscription within an ornate laurel and olive wreath tied at the base with a decorative bow, the date 1639 divided and placed in the uppermost line flanking a small crowned ornament at the apex of the wreath. The text reads DVCATVS NOVVS EPI MONASTE RIENSIS across four lines below the date, proclaiming this a new episcopal ducat of Münster. The wreath is rendered in high relief with naturalistic foliage detail characteristic of early seventeenth-century German hammered gold coinage.
