| Obverse description | Crowned oval shield bearing a four-fold quartered coat of arms with a central escutcheon displaying the arms of Münster, the entire achievement supported by elaborate scrollwork and mantle. A royal crown surmounts the oval cartouche. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads along the periphery of the coin, interrupted by decorative stops. |

| Reverse description | Five-line Latin inscription within an ornate laurel and olive wreath tied at the base with a decorative bow, the date 1639 divided and placed in the uppermost line flanking a small crowned ornament at the apex of the wreath. The text reads DVCATVS NOVVS EPI MONASTE RIENSIS across four lines below the date, proclaiming this a new episcopal ducat of Münster. The wreath is rendered in high relief with naturalistic foliage detail characteristic of early seventeenth-century German hammered gold coinage. |
