| Reverse description | Central crowned quartered shield of the Catholic Monarchs displaying the arms of Castile (castles) and León (lions) in the first and fourth quarters, and the arms of Aragon (pales) and Sicily in the second and third quarters, with Granada in base. The shield is surmounted by a large royal crown flanked by supporters, all rendered in relief within a beaded inner circle. The mint mark letter B, identifying the Barcelona mint, appears to either side of the shield in the field. The surrounding Latin legend reads CASTELLE ARA COMES B, identifying Ferdinand as ruler of Castile and Aragon and Count of Barcelona. |
