Obverse description Full-length facing figure of Emperor Ferdinand I in elaborate armour, crowned, holding a sceptre in his right hand and an orb in his left, standing on a small plinth. The figure is rendered in high relief in the Renaissance manner, with fine detailing on the armour plates and royal regalia. A beaded inner circle frames the central effigy. The surrounding Latin legend reads FERDINA D G EL R IM S A G HV, abbreviated titles identifying Ferdinand as elected Roman Emperor, King of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia.
