Additional information

Ferdinand I secured his claim to the Bohemian throne in 1526 partly through election by the Bohemian Diet and partly through his marriage to Anne of Bohemia and Hungary — a dynastic maneuver that brought the crown into Habsburg hands for nearly four centuries. By 1562, his reign was in its final years; he would die in 1564 having also held the title of Holy Roman Emperor since 1558. Prague's mint at this period operated under tight crown supervision, supplying gold coinage primarily for trade and large-denomination transactions rather than everyday commerce.

Fr#44 places this squarely within the Fearon-Allen classification of Habsburg Bohemian ducats, a series complicated by inconsistent die workmanship across minting years.
