背面描述 Standing full-length figure of Saint Wenceslas, Duke of Bohemia, facing forward in armour, holding a long lance or banner staff in his right hand and a shield bearing the Bohemian eagle in his left. The saint is depicted in a commanding, frontal pose consistent with the established Bohemian ducal coinage tradition. A beaded inner circle frames the central effigy, while the surrounding Latin legend S WENCESLAVS DVX BOEMIE runs along the periphery of the coin, separated by pellet stops.

附加信息

Ferdinand I inherited Bohemia through his wife Anna Jagiellonka following the death of Louis II at Mohács in 1526, and the Prague mint's ducats from his reign reflect the administrative scramble of a Habsburg prince suddenly governing a kingdom he had not expected to rule. The Bohemian diet remained deeply suspicious of Habsburg centralization throughout this period, repeatedly contesting Ferdinand's attempts to subordinate local minting privileges to Vienna.

Production spanned nearly two decades, making single-year attribution impossible without die study. Specimens traceable to the earlier part of the range predate Ferdinand's 1546 conflict with the Schmalkaldic League, after which Bohemian noble resistance stiffened considerably and mint operations were directly affected.
