| Obverse description | Full-length armored figure of Emperor Ferdinand I standing facing, wearing elaborate plate armor and an imperial crown, holding a scepter in his right hand and an orb surmounted by a cross in his left. The effigy is rendered in the bold, high-relief style characteristic of mid-16th century Habsburg hammered gold coinage. A beaded inner border frames the central figure. The surrounding legend reads MON AVRE FER D INAND D G RO, abbreviated from the Latin monetary and titular inscription, distributed around the periphery of the coin. |
