Ferdinand I issued ducats from Klagenfurt under the authority of the Inner Austrian administration, which governed Carinthia, Styria, and Carniola as a distinct territorial bloc separate from the main Habsburg lands. The Klagenfurt mint was a relatively minor operation, and 1558 falls late in Ferdinand's reign — he would die the following year — meaning output from this period was administratively routine but numerically limited.
The Markl#1426var designation signals a die variety not fully reconciled with the primary type, which is characteristic of Klagenfurt's inconsistent die cutting during the mid-sixteenth century.
