| Obverse description | Bare-headed draped bust of Duke Ferdinand Albert II facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing wig cascading over the shoulders in the baroque manner. The portrait is boldly struck with strong facial features and lace cravat visible at the truncation. The circular Latin legend FERDINAND.ALBERT.D.G.DVX.BR.ET.LVN surrounds the effigy, identifying the ruler as Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg by the grace of God. The field is smooth and unadorned, allowing the portrait to dominate the flan. |
