| Obverse description | Central field displays the ornate helmeted arms of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg, surmounted by an elaborate plumed helm with decorative mantling extending to either side. The divided date 16-05 appears above the shield within the field. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads MO AVR ARCHIEPISCO MAGDEBVRG with the mint-master initials G M incorporated into the inscription. The coin is struck in the hammered technique typical of early seventeenth-century German ecclesiastical gold coinage. |
