| Beschrijving voorzijde | Two winged putti flank a large imperial crown at the top of the field, each putto resting upon a lion. Below, a six-line Latin inscription in the field reads: LEOPOLDVS / HVNG ET BOH REX / CORON IN REGEM / ROMANORVM / I. AVGVSTI / MDCLVIII, recording the coronation of Leopold I as King of the Romans on 1 August 1658. The date is rendered in Roman numerals consistent with the commemorative purpose of the issue. The design is executed in a bold, relief style characteristic of mid-17th-century German coronation ducats. |
