Beschrijving voorzijde Laureate and draped bust of King Christian V facing right, rendered in high relief in the Baroque portrait style. The king's long curled wig, characteristic of the late 17th-century European court fashion, falls over his armored and mantled shoulders. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy reading CHRISTIANVS . V . D . G . DAN . NOR . VAN . GOT . REX, identifying the monarch as Christian V, King of Denmark, Norway, of the Vandals and the Goths, by the Grace of God. The portrait is boldly engraved with fine drapery detail visible on the royal mantle.

Beschrijving keerzijde A detailed bird's-eye panoramic view of Christiansborg Fortress (also known as Christiansborg Castle) on the Gold Coast of Guinea, present-day Ghana, depicted with its bastions, towers, arched gateway, and surrounding coastal landscape. In the foreground, the waters of the Gulf of Guinea are rendered with fine engraved wave lines, and a figure — likely a native oarsman — is shown in a canoe approaching the fortress. Sailing vessels with rigging appear to the right of the fortress. The encircling Latin legend reads CHRISTIANSBVRG IN GVINEA Ao 1688 ., commemorating the establishment of the Danish trading fort. The scene is contained within an inner circle, with the date 1688 appearing in the lower exergual area.
