Obverse description Elaborately mantled and crowned quartered coat of arms of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, displaying in its multiple quarters the rampant lion, walking horse, and other dynastic bearings of the House of Welf, set within an ornate baroque cartouche supported by foliate scrollwork. A royal crown surmounts the shield at the top of the design. The circular Latin legend CARLOLVS GVILIELMVS FERDINAND surrounds the arms in the field, reading from upper left.
