Obverse description Ornate quartered heraldic shield of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, bearing lions, horses, and other dynastic charges arranged in multiple quarters, surmounted by a royal crown. The shield is elaborately mantled with foliate decoration on either side. The circular legend CAROLVS GVILELM·VS FERDINANDVS runs around the periphery in Latin characters, interrupted by a small cross ornament at the top, all within a beaded border.

Reverse description Bold denomination inscription occupying the central field in three lines: the Roman numeral I at top flanked by two rosette ornaments, followed by DVCAT, then the date 1783, and the mintmaster's initials M·C· below. The surrounding circular legend reads EX AVRO HERCIANIAE D·G·DVX BRVNSVICENS·ET·LVNEBVRG, indicating the gold was sourced from the Harz mining region, all within a beaded border.
