| Obverse description | Draped bust of Karl Ludwig (Charles Louis), Elector Palatine, facing right within a beaded inner circle, depicted with long flowing hair and armored shoulders. The portrait is rendered in high relief in the Baroque style typical of mid-17th century German ducats. The circumferential Latin legend, abbreviating his full electoral and feudal titles, runs continuously around the inner circle between two beaded borders. |
