Obverse description Facing crowned bust of Charles IV (Karl IV) in royal regalia, holding a scepter in his right hand and an orb in his left, depicted in a hieratic, frontal posture characteristic of medieval Gothic die-work. The king's mantle is rendered with stylized drapery folds, and a jeweled crown surmounts his head. A circular beaded border encloses the effigy, with the Latin legend running continuously around the periphery of the field.
