| Obverse description | The elaborate quartered coat of arms of the Duchy of Brunswick occupies the full field, depicting lions, a white horse, and other heraldic charges across nine quarters. The shield is supported on each side by draped mantling and surmounted by five crested helms with elaborate lambrequins and coronets. No legend appears on the obverse, the entire face being devoted to the finely engraved armorial display. |

| Reverse description | The reverse bears a large Roman numeral 'I' above the word 'DUCAT' in bold capital letters at centre, flanked by two rosette ornaments. Below, the date '1825' is inscribed, flanked by further rosette stops, with the mint-master's initials 'C.v.C.' beneath. A curved inscription 'AUS HARZ GOLD' in the lower field denotes the Harz Mountain gold origin, while the circular border legend 'CARL HERZOG ZU BR U LUEN' surrounds the whole. |
