| Obverse description | Draped bust of Charles II facing right, with elaborately curled periwig descending to the shoulder and lace cravat visible at the truncation. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the late Baroque court portrait style. The encircling Latin legend reads CAROLVS II D G C PAL RH D BAV I C & M W, with the mint mark W appearing below the bust truncation. The coin's milled border frames the design on all sides. |

| Reverse description | Elaborately quartered oval shield of arms surmounted by a princely crown with cross finial, supported on the left by a rampant lion standing on its hind legs and on the right by a lion-like heraldic beast. The shield displays the multiple quarterings of the Palatinate-Zweibrücken dynastic arms, including lions passant and barry fields. Below the shield hangs a decorative chain of orders with dependent cross badges. The date 17 90 is divided by the shield, appearing to the left and right in the field. |
