Additional information

Münsterberg-Oels was one of the smaller Piast-descended duchies of Silesia, and by 1612 Charles II was navigating the increasingly fraught confessional politics of the Holy Roman Empire just years before the Thirty Years' War would devastate the region. The duchy's gold ducat output was never large; these were prestige instruments of court finance, not circulation coinage.

FuS 2166 is the Frühwald und Saurma reference, the standard attribution for Silesian ducats of this period.
